I decided to change the usual plain white unicorn cake up a little by adding a pink ombre at the base. Once again I used Ermine buttercream, so delicious and light.

Swirls and kisses adorned with buttercream flowers and gum paste butterflies and dragonflies added some extra dimension. The beautiful unicorn topper set is from Sandra Dillon Designs and I love the way it mirrors the buttercream details.

A gum paste rainbow with the birthday girl’s name and age was added at the last minute and matches the accompanying cookies. I used my new Sweet Sticks Rainbow Mini Palette to paint both.
