Christmas in July

I’ve always wanted to host a Christmas in July dinner, especially since experiencing Christmas during Winter in the States.

Christmas in Australia doesn’t usually include snow and roaring fires! The traditional hot Christmas lunch is replaced by cold seafood, ham, and salad.

I’m not sure that I will have time to do a Christmas in July dinner/party this year but I did manage to make a gingerbread house for the Queanbeyan Christmas in July Market Day.

I saw some lovely greenhouse-style gingerbread houses on Pinterest and decided to do a similar design. My greenhouse contains growing Christmas trees for sale. Also inside the house is a little wooden table and benches and a knit textured mat.

This was so much fun to make, not to mention challenging with all those roof angles! Lucky for me I married an Engineer!

You can see my gingerbread house at the Queanbeyan Christmas in July Market Day on Sunday 7 July from 10:00-4:00. Looking forward to seeing all the other gingerbread houses and cakes.
