Flower Wreath Cake

This cake had been in the planning for a while now, not exactly what I had initially thought but happy none the less.

A 75th birthday deserves a decent cake (all birthdays do!). This one was for my Mum, an amazing gardener, so I thought flowers would suit.

Gumpaste flowers and buds decorate the handmade wreath. This was my first try at pom-pom chrysanthemums and although fiddly, they were fun to make.

The bottom tier was a time-consuming task, lots of twisting and sticking, the effect was worth the effort!

Inside was an orange cake layered with raspberry swiss meringue buttercream.
