Valentine’s Day 2019

 

Valentine’s Day is creeping up on us! 

I have had a little play with a heart shaped cake over the past couple of weeks. The first design was playing with Russian Buttercream which I had never used before, and the second with stencilling.

The Russian Buttercream was delicious! 3 ingredients, just condensed milk, butter, and vanilla. Super sweet and a very soft buttercream, not the best to be using in 40+ degrees (104F). It piped quite well but definitely needs to be kept refrigerated.

The second heart cake was a white on white design using two stencils. Small leaves around the sides and a flower bouquet on top. This one was super quick and easy and gave a great effect.

And just to keep the heart theme going, a cute heart cookie. I used Amy Cakes Sweet Stamps to emboss LOVE on the fondant, Sweet Sticks Edible Art Paint for the watercolour, and Creative Cake Decorating Dior Gold. I’m really enjoying playing with the Sweet Stamps, I have a couple of cookies to show you soon!
