Pretty in Pink!
Baby shower time here in Texas, the last one was back in June. This time it’s a pink one!
I started out wanting to design a fairly clean cake, with the topper being the star. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted extra features!
The bottom tier was decorated with wafer paper scrunches, giving the effect of a frilly skirt or tutu (those of you who follow me on Facebook may remember my post about these). The top tier, double height, was simply covered in baby pink fondant using the barrel method. I used a column of cute bows to cover the fondant seam at the back of the cake.
Fondant bunting spells out the baby’s nickname, using Rokem super gold dust mixed with a little vodka.
The original star of the show was the pair of baby pink converse. I loved making these, and added some small pink Swarovski crystals for a touch of bling. These crystals are not edible! (I used the same former kit as I did for my Baby Shoes post)
My favourite part of the cake ended up being the wafer paper tier, I love the effect the scrunches gave.
The top tier was chocolate cake filled with vanilla buttercream. The bottom tier was vanilla with vanilla buttercream.
That is absolutely gorgeous! I’m not a pink person myself, but this is exquisite work. The mum-to-be must be over the moon with this work of art. Well done 🙂
