2015 Superbowl
Yay! We’re going to our very first Superbowl party!!!
Last year we had just arrived in the States and didn’t really know anyone on Superbowl Sunday so we watched the game in our temporary accommodation and tried our hardest to understand what was going on. We still don’t really know what it is all about but at least this year we will be with friends (most of whom don’t understand the game either), so we will be in good company 🙂
As there will be quite a few kids at the event, I decided to make them a cake. I am still having trouble without some of my “essential tools”, left back in Australia. I am especially missing my steamer but just can’t justify buying another for such a short period of time. So as a result, my fondant does not have the silky finish I love.
One side of the cake helmet is the Patriots, and the other side is the Seahawks.
I cut the logos out of fondant which was more time consuming than printing them on edible paper, but once again…my printer is back in Australia!
The helmet cage is not edible, I didn’t have time to make one out of gum paste. I purchased this one from our local sporting store for $9.99, not bad!
Inside, the cake is vanilla stacked with chocolate buttercream.
I think I am going to support the Seahawks this year….but as I mentioned before, I have no idea about this kind of footy!
