Graduation Time
We have finished the school year over here in Texas, now I have 3 months with the kids at home!
Anyway, with the end of the school year comes multiple graduations. Kids graduate from several school years here including Grade 4. So, we had a graduation to go to! My son graduated and had a class party for which I made some cupcakes. It was all a bit last minute so no photos, but I did make some more for the following day as we were lucky enough to be invited to a graduation party for a Grade 12 graduate – the real deal 🙂 The party was amazing and we were even treated to an impromptu concert by the graduate herself, a very talented musician, on this occasion playing the violin.
So, the cupcakes were black and white cupcakes. I had found and purchased this Wilton Two Tone Cupcake Insert, a fancy piece of equipment but unfortunately it was of no use with my batter as it was too thick. I will try again with a thinner cake batter.
So, back to basics, piping the vanilla and chocolate batter into the pans. Yummy frosting to top made using a Thermomix recipe. You could easily use this recipe with a standard mixer, the use of cream makes it beautiful and light.
I found these cute Congrats Grad Cupcake Liners and Picks so there was no need to make any decorations. A quick dust with orange sanding sugar as the school colours are orange and black and they were done!
