Fiona Poole 70th Birthday Celebrations!
I LOVED making this cake! Not only due to the design brief but because of who it was for. I have been lucky enough to have this inspiring woman in my life since birth, as a very good friend of my parents.
She loves Georg Jensen jewellery and Mingei Japanese fabrics. The silver Georg Jensen jewellery is represented on the cake by the silver fondant beads and the swirl of the silver 70 on top. The cake has been stamped with the traditional indigo colour of the Mingei fabric using Japanese stamps (sent from Japan). A quick spray of pearl shine and it was done.
To go with the cake I made some cute little cookies, just the right size to sit on a teaspoon. Butter cookies simply stamped using Fox Run Alphabets and Letters Decorating Set purchased from the lovely folks at Latorta in Canberra.
