4th of July 40th!

I had so much fun making this cake for a friend’s surprise 40th.  The theme of the party was 4th of July so a red, white, and blue cake it had to be!

I had a look on Pinterest and found so many gorgeous cakes, mine is a combo of a few.

Naked cake – I quite like it like this

Chocolate mud cake covered in fondant. Fondant stars with edible pearls and a gumpaste 40 to decorate.  The gumpaste dried so quickly (a tad too much tylose added), hence a few cracks on the curves.  I love the ribbon, found at a discount shop.
