Fiona Poole The Very Hungry Caterpillar
This week I had the pleasure of making Orlando’s first birthday cake and cookies. A very special friend of mine with a big, contagious smile 🙂
The theme of the party was The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The cake was vanilla with vanilla buttercream filling covered in fondant. I made the caterpillar using a bundt tin and made it chocolate mud. The fruit was made using modeling chocolate, already pre-coloured and very convenient.
To go with the cake I made some Very Hungry Caterpillar cookies. iced with royal icing using the flooding method. The photos of these aren’t great, I only had time for a couple of quick snapshots with my little camera.
